Kagoshima University Delegation Visits E-DREaM Center to Explore New Opportunities for Collaboration in Natural Disaster Management

March 18, 2024 – A delegation from Kagoshima University visited the E-DREaM Center, marking a significant step towards collaboration in the fields of natural environment protection, earthquake research, and disaster preparedness. The meeting involved in-depth discussions on several potential areas of cooperation.
Professors Chung-Han Chan, Wu-Lung Chang, and Yen-Yu Lin from the E-DREaM Center, along with Director Andrew Tien-Shun Lin of the Carbon Storage and Geothermal Research Center, welcomed the delegation and shared their centers’ research achievements and expertise. Both parties exchanged views on jointly evaluating the earthquake and tsunami threats faced by Taiwan, the Ryukyu Islands, and Kyushu, showcasing the potential for deepening cooperation.
In addition to scientific research and technological development, the Kagoshima University delegation highly appreciated the E-DREaM Center’s efforts in public science education. The Temblor-Taiwan mobile application developed by E-DREaM particularly attracted the delegation’s interest. This app aims to enhance the public’s awareness and preparedness for earthquakes and other natural disasters.
This visit not only strengthened the exchange between the two parties in the field of natural disaster research and management but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. As both sides continue to explore new areas of collaboration, there is an expectation of achieving more breakthroughs in natural environment protection, disaster prevention, and mitigation technologies.
